ZBM ULTRA has modernized a stationary automatic stand for continuous testing of rails after reprofiling. It consists of a multi-channel flaw detector, blocks of ultrasonic probes mounted on a movable arm, an automatic wetting system and a control and archiving program.
The test at the stand is performed automatically – the rail is moved under the probes on rollers in the technological line. The operator’s task is to set the frame with ultrasonic probes at the beginning of the rail, enter the test parameters into the computer program and start it. During the UT test, the operator simultaneously performs a VT assessment. The program automatically evaluates the indications and the occurrence of unacceptable defects or insufficient wetting is signaled by an audible alarm. The automatic lowering, lifting of the probes and the supply of the coupling agent are operated from the controller level. Limit switches are installed in the blocks with probes – when the rail falls off the rollers, the probes are automatically raised and the supply of the coupling agent is interrupted. The report after the test is available in the printable program.
